Alleged stabber set for plea deal

MASON CITY – A Des Moines man who allegedly stabbed a person in Clear Lake in September is set for a plea hearing Monday in court.

Jose Louis Ramos, age 28, was chased by police in Clear Lake on the afternoon of September 18 after a stabbing was reported. Ramos was able to hide and evade law enforcement for nearly an hour before he was caught and arrested near 2101 12th Avenue South. He was charged with felony D willful injury and second degree harassment and has been jailed ever since.

A public defender for Ramos later entered a not guilty plea, but on October 22, a plea hearing was scheduled by a judge for November 3.

Ramos faces up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $7,500 for the D felony charge. He is also facing parole violations out of Polk county.
