MASON CITY – A woman who has faced criminal charges across the state of Iowa and now living in Mason City was picked up by Mason City police on an arrest warrant this weekend.
Carrie Lea Young, age 31, a convicted felon and now calling the North End of Mason City home, was wanted on a warrant out of Story county after an arrest by Ames police and a conviction on felony burglary. Young has failed to pay $4,317.50 she owes in fines and court fees related to that case. She was arrested by Mason City police Saturday at about 11:00. She was taken to jail and held on $6,000 cash-only bond.
Across a multi-county region stretching from Cerro Gordo to Story, Young has been accused – among other crimes – of theft, domestic assault causing bodily injury, lying to police, interference with official acts, assault, driving while barred, violating a protective order, criminal mischief, accessory to a felony, burglarizing cars, drunk driving, public intoxication and assault causing bodily injury. Some of the charges were plea deals, some convictions, some dismissed. She owes thousands of dollars to Iowa courts.
