
Jodie Hill (pictured at top), 53, of Waterloo, was arrested at approximately 1:03 a.m. on June 12, 2026, by Waterloo Police detectives, according to the Waterloo Police Department.
The arrest stems from a May 20, 2026, incident in the 1000 block of San Marnan Drive.
Waterloo police said officers and Waterloo Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched at approximately 9:18 p.m. that night for a report of a male lying in the roadway with apparent injuries.
When officers arrived, they determined the man had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Waterloo Fire EMS and other first responders attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead by medical professionals. He was identified as 32-year-old Joshua Ehr of Waterloo.
According to police, detectives collected evidence during the investigation and identified Hill as the suspect believed to have struck Ehr and left the scene.
Hill was taken to the Black Hawk County Jail following her arrest.
She is charged with knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a Class C felony; false report to a public entity, a simple misdemeanor; and driving while suspended, a simple misdemeanor.
Under Iowa law, a Class C felony is punishable by up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
Police said no further details will be released at this time.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation. Hill is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
