DES MOINES – Progress Iowa Executive Director Matt Sinovic released the following statement regarding the revelation that a vehicle transporting Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Reynolds was pulled over for speeding in August, as reported in numerous news outlets on Friday:

“This is the same old Terry Branstad, letting his driver take the fall and refusing to take responsibility. It’s unfortunate but not surprising, since our Governor is a forty-year career politician who thinks he’s above the law.”

“Just a little over one month after pledging that vehicles carrying him would no longer speed, Governor Branstad’s vehicle was pulled over for speeding in Franklin County. Instead of taking responsibility for this new speeding incident, the Governor said nothing publicly until now. Even when the story broke, his spokesman did not indicate Governor Branstad would take responsibility for the incident.”

“This latest incident is part of a larger trend with Governor Branstad. Whenever anything goes wrong, he tries to blame others and avoid all responsibility. Whether it is these speeding incidents, mismanagement and understaffing in Iowa’s corrections system, or controversies regarding the Iowa Veterans Home or Iowa Juvenile Home, Governor Branstad never takes responsibility. Governor Branstad needs to start living by Harry Truman’s famous saying that ‘the buck stops here.’”

The Iowa legislature will be voting on medical marijuana this coming January. It will probably pass (majority of Iowans want this) but Branstad has already said there is NO CHANCE of him signing it. In other words, he’s misinformed, uneducated, and just plain too right wing to allow Iowans access to this natural medication that would relieve suffering for so many. He is NOT for his constituents, the people who elected him. He no longer deserves to head our state.

@Opinionated-glad that is your opinion. It’s to bad for you that the majority of us have better sense than that.

You liberals are Hillaryious….. One word DETROIT….

He can take responsibility for having the state fiscally solvent and for putting people back to work. He has also gotten control of a out of state budget that the Democrats and almost had us into bankruptsy. Why should he take responsibility for what another person does while they are driving. Typical liberal B.S.

A liberal has the nerve to say the Governor is blaming others for his speeding and not taking responsibility. Has he not watched the Hillary and Barry show the last 5 years… What a joke… What an idiot…

Doesn’t say anything about the president or hillary. That is not what this is about. Typical right wing bs trying to turn this back on someone else. Just like terry braindead does.

Exactly. Totally agree with you, ANONYMOUS.

No he won’t

His whole family lives by that policy…
