KIMBALLTON, IOWA – An elderly Iowa couple perished in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Western Iowa.
According to a report, Harold Akers, age 82, and Doris Akers, age 79, both of Exira, Iowa, died when a Ford F-150 driven by 42 year-old James Gibson of Panora, Iowa, crossed the center line of Highway 44 about 4 miles east of Kimballton and struck head-on the Chrysler Town & Country van they were driving.
Gibson was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital and released.
The crash remains under investigation.
