MASON CITY – A whole week of Spring Break fun for children in grades 1 through 6 is planned for Monday, March 11 through Friday, March 15 from 8:00 a.m. until noon at the MacNider Art Museum. Spring Break Art Camp will have an animal theme, both real and fantastical, inspired by the Truth in Animals exhibition. All week long campers will work on a large-scale dragon, monsters with egg carton teeth, birdfeeders, mobiles, wooden sculptures, CD fish, spool bugs and snakes and creatures for the Museums’ Band Festival float. Campers will also have an opportunity to build with the new Imagination Playground. Each day children will work with a different media and there will be a variety of extra projects just for the fun of it.

Whether they pursue individual projects that capture their imagination or join in with friends to create large-scale art, campers will have lots of chances to experiment with materials and learn new skills. The emphasis of the camp will be on creativity and good times. Camp directors are Jan Willeke and Teresa Schoger. Cost of the week is $68, museum members $61. Call 641-421-3666 to register your child.
