
MASON CITY – This high-speed driver was racing past Mason City until the Iowa State Patrol forced him to pull over, then they found out he was allegedly intoxicated and toting illegal drugs.
Records show 20-year-old Christopher Maki Walker was nabbed by the Iowa State Patrol on August 19 in Cerro Gordo county. He was allegedly traveling at least 21 miles per hour over the posted speed limit and not wearing a seat belt. During the traffic stop, troopers found illegal marijuana, and that Walker had no proof of insurance as he stopped in the roadway instead of fully pulling over. After an investigation, the Patrol arrested Walker on the following charges:
– 321.288(1) – Failure to maintain control
– 321.20B – FAILURE TO PROVIDE PROOF OF FINANCIAL LIABILITY – ACCIDENT
– 321.354 – STOPPING ON PAVED PART OF HIGHWAY
– 321.285 – SPEEDING 55 OR UND ZONE (21 OR OVER)
– 321.445 – FAILURE TO MAINTAIN OR USE SAFETY BELTS – ADULT
– 124.401(5)(b) – Possession of a Contolled substance, Marijuana 1st offense
– 124.414 – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
– 321J.2(2)(a) – OWI — 1st Offense
Walker (pictured at top) was taken to the Cerro Gordo county jail and booked in at 4:14 PM on August 19. He was appointed a public defender and was held on bond until August 22, when he posted bond and was released. He now awaits a preliminary hearing set for August 29.
