
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday (October 23, 2013) at Epiphany Parish – Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. John Gossman and the Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating.
A visitation with public viewing will be held Tuesday evening (October 22, 2013) at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. N.E., Mason City, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. where Mary Ann’s family will lead a time of sharing beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Mary Ann’s name in care of Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel.
Mary Ann Pope was born on January 5, 1939 in Sheffield, the daughter of Elmer and Velma (Fuller) Pope, she was one of six children. Mary Ann attended and graduated from the Sheffield High School in Sheffield.
In the spring of 1964 Mary Ann was united in marriage to Leonard Foster in Des Moines. Together they would be blessed with five children.
Mary Ann worked for many years at the Plaza Restaurant in Mason City. She also stayed busy raising the children and tending to their home. One of Mary Ann’s greatest joys in life was the addition of grandchildren to their family. She adored each and every one of her grandchildren and was delighted when they were able to visit at the house.
In earlier years she and Leonard loved to go dancing, she also loved roller skating with her kids and making their Halloween costumes. More recently, her hobbies included playing BINGO, sewing, cheering on her nephews at the I-35 Speedway, tending to her crafts, as well as baking homemade breads and cinnamon rolls and cooking.
Those grateful in sharing in her life are her husband, Leonard Foster; children, William Foster, Russell (Shannon) Foster, Margaret “Cookie” Foster, and Leland Foster; grandchildren, Justin (Leslie) Foster, Deoshea Foster, Stephen Rambo, Jordan Bartoszek, Shea Pals, Garrett Foster, Derric Thomas, Donte Foster, Constance Taylor, Kristina Portis-Foster, Colten Muth, Steffen Foster, Bryce Foster, Serena Foster, and Quinn Lee Kukunaokala Foster; great grandchildren, Mikhye and Mira Foster, Paris Florian, and DeSavian Portis; siblings, Beverly Gamble, Georgia Smit, Rolland “Shorty” Pope, and Sue Pope; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie Foster – Rambo; grandson, Darrion Rambo; brother, Pete Pope; and sister, Betty Jimenez.
