WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Northern Iowa men’s basketball team came up on the short end of a 66-41 decision to the Wichita State Shockers on Sunday in Koch Arena.
Wichita State (12-1 overall, 1-0 MVC) improved its home-court win streak to 15 in a row with its second consecutive 25-point win over UNI in Koch Arena.
UNI (7-6 overall, 0-1 MVC) was led in scoring by senior forward Jake Koch with seven points. Junior Chip Rank knocked in a pair of three-pointers in the second half to contribute six points.
The Panthers led 7-4, but an 8-0 run by the Shockers gave the home squad a five-point lead at 12-7. WSU would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.
WSU led 30-18 at the half. WSU shot 48 percent in the first half and held UNI to 28 percent shooting in the first stanza.
The Shockers led by as many as 30 in the second half (61-31).
UNI will be back in action on Wednesday against Indiana State at 7 p.m. in the McLeod Center.
