Iowa Central ends NIACC Men’s season, 82-73

FORT DODGE, Iowa – NIACC’s men’s basketball ended its season with a 82-73 loss to Iowa Central in the first round of the  Region XI tournament on Tuesday.

NIACC’s Chris Davis (Fr., Colorado Springs, CO) had 18 points in the loss, while Kendall Brown (So., Des Moines, IA) recorded 15 points.  Nate Brandt (Fr., Burlington, WI) and Dominique Wright (Fr., Colorado Springs, CO) had 12 and 11 points respectively.

The Trojans were tied with the Iowa Central (23-9, 9-5) at halftime 35-35, but Iowa Central was able to pull away late for the win.

Robert Goffney had 22 points to lead the Tritons and Duke Reed had 18 points.  They will host Southwestern, who upset number two-seed Ellsworth, 62-61.

NIACC ended the season with a 14-17 record overall, and a 5-9 record in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.  The Trojans will lose six sophomores: Brown, Chris Throne (Lake Mills, IA), Dustin Dolash (Chelsea, IA), Caleb Bassey (Inglewood, CA), and redshirts Nolan Amelon (Iowa City, IA) and Matt Dove (Dike, IA).
