ALBIA, IOWA – A fugitive from Illinois who cops called “very dangerous” after he had abducted a child was nabbed by Iowa cops as he hopped off a train.
On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at approximately 10:49 AM, Peoria, Illinois police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from an Enterprise Rent-s-Car with a 3-year-old child inside. A short time later the child was located unharmed at a gas station, but the suspect was no found, and a manhunt ensued. During a foot chase, the suspect dropped his ID on a trail. Cop positively ID’d the suspect as 45-year-old Victor E Farris from Ohio. Cops said has an extensive violent history. He evidently slipped away and had been on the loose for days.
Iowa authorities reported that Victor Farris (pictured at top and at bottom) was apprehended at approximately 10:00 AM on the morning of September 16, in Monroe County, Iowa. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office informed Illinois authorities that he was arrested after a train conductor witnessed a male later to be identified as Farris jump off the train and run after being confronted. A short time later a deputy located Farris in an alleyway in Albia, Iowa, and Farris lied about his name but was eventually positively identified as Farris and arrested.
Farris is going through the extradition process in Iowa and will eventually be transported to the Peoria County Jail for the warrant that was issued for him last week.
