Iowa search warrant yields crack cocaine, meth, marijuana and arrest of suspected drug dealer

BURLINGTON – Cops stormed a house in this crime-infested region and nabbed a suspected drug dealer and a swath of substances designed to get folks high. Really high.

The Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force has been conducting an in-depth investigation over the past several months into a suspected drug network operating in Burlington, Iowa. This investigation culminated in the execution of a search warrant at 221 S 9th Street in Burlington, Iowa.

On June 20, 2024, at approximately 9:30 AM, officers from the Task Force, with the assistance of local law enforcement agencies, carried out the search warrant at the residence located at 221 S 9th Street. This operation is part of a broader effort to dismantle drug trafficking operations within the region and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

Details of the Operation:
• Location: 221 S. 9th St., Burlington, Iowa
• Date of Search: June 20, 2024
• Time of Search: 9:30 A.M.
• Agencies Involved: Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Burlington Police Department, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.

Results of the Search:
• Substances Seized: Crack Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Marijuana.
• Arrests Made: James G. Griffin, Age 56 (pictured at top)
• Charges: Two warrants for Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Deliver, as well as, Possession with Intent to Deliver – Methamphetamine, Possession of Controlled Substance- Crack Cocaine, Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana, and Drug Tax Stamp Violation.

“The Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force is committed to aggressively targeting and dismantling drug networks that pose a threat to our communities,” the agency said. “The success of this operation is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our officers and the cooperative efforts of our partner agencies.”
