Josh Quail, 41, of Alpha, died Monday, July 1, 2024, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the Hawkeye Community Hall with Vicar Laurie Iudin-Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 9th at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the Community Hall on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the family.
Joshua Lee, son of Ronald “Mike” and DeLoris “Dee” (Wilkinson) Quail was born June 12, 1983, in New Hampton, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church-Stapleton, rural Waucoma. Josh graduated from North Fayette High School in 2001. Following high school, he began working at Aveka Manufacturing in Fredericksburg. In 2009, Josh started Quail Q & R Construction Company. On September 19, 2008, he was united in marriage with Andrea Vandersee in Oelwein. To this union five children were born, Harley, Jaya, Michael, Bruce, and Kathryn. Josh was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church-Stapleton. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going to auctions, and had an incredible ability to fix anything. Josh loved most being a dad to his five beautiful children.
Josh is survived by his wife, Andrea of Alpha; five children, Harley, Jaya, Michael, Bruce, and Kathryn, all at home in Alpha; father, Ronald “Mike” Quail of Waucoma; brother, Ron, Jr. (Candy) Quail of Sumner; mother-in-law, Conny (Harry) Peyton of Hazelton; brother-in-law, Tony (Chrissy) Vandersee of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Austin Vandersee, Catlin Quail, Kayla, Kyle, and Kody Kopp; grandparents-in-law, Helen and Wayne Bentley of Fayette; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, DeLoris “Dee” on September 8, 2009; maternal and paternal grandparents; and aunts, Sonja Bast and Jo Rolison.
