RURAL DICKINSON COUNTY, IOWA – An Ames man was charged with drunk driving after crashing his pickup into a tree and two garages in Dickinson county.
On May 18, 2020 at around 9:33pm, the DCSO responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of 242nd Avenue and 182nd Street.
Tavan Shahidi, age 22 of Ames, Iowa, was northbound on 242nd Avenue and failed to complete the turn onto 182nd Street. Shahidi was driving a 2014 Ford F-150 when he lost control and collided with a tree and two garages. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries. The F-150 was considered to be totaled and the garages received considerable damage.
Shahidi was charged with:
Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense)
Failure to Maintain Control
Driving on Wrong Side of Two-Way Highway
Reckless Driving
Failure to Use Seatbelt
Failure to Reduce Speed to Reasonable Rate
The DCSO was assisted on the scene by the Arnolds Park PD, Milford PD, Milford Fire and Rescue, and Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance.
