One dead, three hurt in Franklin county crash Sunday morning

RURAL FRANKLIN COUNTY – One person died and three were hurt as a result of a crash early Sunday morning in Franklin county.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol,the accident happened around 4:42 AM at the 156 mile marker of southbound Interstate 35, 2 miles south of Dows. The crash involved just one vehicle, a 2004 Mercedes. No names have been released, yet, by authorities, but one person died as a result of the crash. No details on the crash were divulged, yet, either. A second person was taken by Air Life helicopter to a Rochester hospital, another by ambulance to an Iowa Falls hospital, and a third person was hurt but refused treatment. All four persons were wearing seat belts, the report shows.

The Iowa State Patrol is still investigating this accident.

Assisting agencies include Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Dows Fire/Ems, Alden Ema, Williams Fire/Ems.
