St. Paul man arrested after assault of woman in Estherville

ESTHERVILLE – A St. Paul, Minnesota man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman in Estherville and then stole her car and phone.

On March 14, 2017 at approximately 8:30 am, Estherville Police received a complaint regarding an assault that had occurred in Estherville. Responding Officers learned that 34-year-old Jermaine Fleming of St. Paul had assaulted his girlfriend. After the assault, Fleming took the victim’s car and phone then left. A short time later, the victim came to the Police Department to file a complaint. After filing the complaint, the female victim sought treatment at Avera Holy Family Hospital regarding the injuries she received during the assault.

Unable to locate the suspect Fleming, Estherville Police requested arrest warrants charging him with Domestic Abuse Assault, a Class D Felony; Willful Injury a Class D Felony; Theft 2nd degree a Class D Felony; and Theft 4th degree a Serious Misdemeanor.

On March 15, 2017 at approximately 8:30 a.m., Estherville Police located the stolen vehicle at 504 West 5th Avenue North. Police eventually located Fleming inside the residence and he was taken into custody without incident. Fleming was transported to the Emmet County Jail. He appeared in front of a Magistrate and is being held on a $5000 cash or surety bond.
