Clear Lake police announce more charges against paroled man

CLEAR LAKE – A paroled Clear Lake man who went on what police described as a “crime spree” last month which ended with a burned up pickup truck is facing new charges, Clear Lake police announced Tuesday.

Michael Dean Wilson, age 25, is in custody in the Cerro Gordo County Jail facing multiple felony charges including arson, felony burglary, parole violations, felony joint criminal conduct, and a many more. Tuesday, Clear Lake police said that Wilson now faces two new counts of possession of stolen property and more after police tied him to more crimes in the Clear Lake area that took place in recent months.

Wilson is now implicated in the burglary of the Lakeside Pit Stop on August 15, when an ATM machine was sawed into and taken from the establishment, along with all the cash inside. The charges of third degree burglary, second degree theft and criminal mischief have been brought against him.

Also, a reportedly stolen “dirt bike” motorcycle was found on Wilson’s property, along with stolen tools. He faces two more counts of possession of stolen property.

Police said Wilson was out of prison on parole when he committed these crimes, along with his alleged burglary of Rumorz Bar this summer. He was finally caught after he lead police on a dangerous chase which ended when he set his pickup truck on fire and fled on foot, only to be caught hours later by Clear Lake police.
