AMES, Iowa – May 8, 2012 – Today, the Iowa Transportation Commission approved a Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy (RISE) Immediate Opportunity grant application submitted by Webster County. Up to $1,238,130 will be made available to assist in construction of approximately 3,000 feet of new roadway south of Iowa 7 and turn-lane improvements on Iowa 7 located west of Fort Dodge. This project is anticipated to be completed by June 2013.
These improvements are necessary to provide access to the site of Cargill Inc.’s corn wet-milling facility and more than 214 acres for heavy industrial purposes.
The project will support the creation of 126 new jobs at this facility and more than $139 million in associated capital investment.
Funding for the grant comes from the county share of the RISE Fund.
