We have a Mayor’s race coming up and we don’t have anyone to run against Mayor Bookmeyer.

I have been approached for several months and encouraged to run for the Mayor’s position. While I can appreciate those that are asking, votes of confidence, I have not been personally motivated to take that task on. By the same token, there is a part of me that feels it is incumbent on all of us to try and leave this world in better condition than how we found it. I won’t rule that option out either.

We really do need to find someone that can respond to the call. Can we put the word out through to see if there is any interest in Mason City Government? Nomination papers have to be filed in a couple of weeks so time is of the essence.

Is there anyone out there that will step forward and answer the call?

bookmeyer realy has to go he was given factual proof on paper about the corruption in the mcpd and county attorney office tward the victom of a deliberate actof 4 criminals only 1 was charged but not for the felonies he should have been charged with the others should have been charged as accomplasis they weren’t they turned the act of this crime on the victom to protect one of there own bookmeyer did nothing to contact the vicom he had more than one way to do that he’s as corrupt an phony as the rest of them building a better tommoro what a joke lets get someone in there that cares about the citizens of the community

Wouldn’t Max do more good as a councilman at large or council person? Carl would probably have a better shot at Mayor. Carl, what do you say?!

I can tell you now I would vote for Micky mouse before I would vote for him

Yes Carl would also be a great choice. Lets talk him into running community. Carl for mayor! Carl for mayor!

I would vote for Carl in a heartbeat! He is an honest, common sense, stand up guy and THIS is what Mason City needs, for ALL of its citizens.

CARL GROVER FOR MAYOR!!!!

@Joe-Carl would probably have a better chance than Max. A lot of people like Max, but a lot don’t either. I would definitely vote for Carl. I don’t always agree with him but I do think he cares.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO WRITE IN MAX WEAVER FOR MAYOR. IF EVERYONE THATS DISLIKES WHAT BOOKIE HAS BEEN DOING IN THE MAYORS SEAT THEN ITS TIME TO WRITE IN MAX WEAVER FOR MAYOR. REMEMBER NOVEMBER VOTE MAX WEAVER FOR MAYOR

Good idea. We had our issues inthe past but im writing in Max Weaver.

My write in will be for Weaver. At least he takes the time to listen!

bookmyer needs to go he was presented with factual proof of police and county attorney mishandleing of case deliberately and did nothing to address these matters clearly he’s not concerned about the citizens of the community department of justice and fbi were informed and out a stop to the injustice by mcpd and county attorney office who later stated they accidently miss chargeed the victim of a violent crime he’s as corrupt as the rest of them

Do you have proof of this? Doyou have names you can reveal here?

Th elections are shaping up. Matt versus Solberg. Solberg losses. Draper versus Hickey. The red mark left on his neck will be from embarrassment. Sadly there is no body running against Bookmeyer. Who is out there that could be a good mayor? Steve Weiss, Tom Hovland, Doug Peterson, Wally Smeby,Scott Shipman,Gary LaFrenz, Tim Latham, Chris Watts.

To: Anonymous @ 10:35 am 9/16 — But you just said he was a “fiend”. Definition: an evil spirit, demon???

I consider Eric Bookmeyer a fiend and I am neither a cronie or an enabler.

Your assertion is false Matt. Eric is a very nice guy who has and would/will continue to have friends in Mason City after his time as Mayor has come to and end.

Fiend was obviously a typo

I stay anonymous on this board to avoid the bombardment of negativity.

I think he is a fiend too!

If those who continually castigate Mayor Bookmeyer really feel that strongly, let them step forward and become a candidate. There is an old saying,
“Talk is cheap”. Whether the allegations against Mayor Bookmeyer are true or not is irrelevant. For no one to run against him is tacit approval for the man and his tenure in office. And forgive me for stating the obvious, but if no one runs against him, he will probably continue to be our mayor.

Is a mayor who is not a pompous blowhard too much to ask for?

I made no assertions Matt – just questions. I am always suspicious when a story is based on an undisclosed source as it begs the question of validity.
At what time in the future are you willing to disclose the source?

No reputation because it is just your opinion. This is just pure entertainment and should be taken as a tabloid and not the news. This is probably all just made up and no one can prove this right unless we check your computer. Name the person that sent you this or you can continue to make these stories up

There actually is a conversation of 3 e-mails to people in Mason City Tea party
Not sure how Matt just got the first request but he does have it and it matches what I have word for word. That came to my inbox e-mail. There is just more correspondance that followed that asked people to get involved. It is out there, it is true and if I weren’t afraid of the retaliation from Bookmeyer if he gets re elected I would post with my name and scan the e-mails for an up load. but I value my home and family and do not want to be harrassed for pissing him off.

Is Quinn Symonds the answer?

He refuses to work, lives off government checks, and has been convicted of a criminal offense in the past year. That shows he is a democrate.

You’ll know when I announce my plans after the 19th. By the way Jeff, I’ll give you the opportunity to show evidence to validate any of the claims you’ve made. Anyone can say anything they want, however it doesn’t make it true. The burden of proof is on you friend.

Do you have a job – NO, do you collect extended unemployment benifits even though North Iowa has the lowest unemploment rate in the midwest – YES, and finally where you arrested and convicted for disorderly conduct with in the past year – YES. Name one thing I stated that is wrong without long drawn out excuses.

I attend college where my unemployment insurance, I wouldn’t consider it a benefit considering I worked two and a half years paying into unemployment insurance and was laid off to get it, was extended because I’m seeking education in a high demand field and that disorderly was two years ago almost. While your statement is partially kind of but not really true it is intellectually dishonest and fallacious to frame it as though it were. I hope I was succinct enough for your liking.

Quinn, Quinn, Quinn! If you want to run for Mayor you should really get certain economic facts right! You don’t pay into “unemployment insurance”! Your employer pays for that out of his pocket, you might be confusing State Unemployment Insurance with Federal Social Security eh?

So how does NIT know if this is legitimate? How are voters to know if we are being played?
Could it be a ruse to drum up opposition to Bookmeyer since there seems to be little except that which appears on NIT?

I am sure Matt has all the proof he needs or it would not be published. Mayor Bookmeyer is looking for anything to take it to Matt. Guaranteed its legit. So if needed he could produce the paper work to prove it.

After 3 years of being online and in the public eye, I’m thinking that NIT has its ducks in a row on this one.

The Globe-Gazette is in bed with Bookmeyer, if we didn’t have NIT where would we be? We are damn lucky NIT is here for allowing everyone to voice their opinion.

The Globe is also in bed with the Sheriff.

This again takes you to the point if you only listen to 5 or 6 people you think everyone loves you. When your own local party is out to find your replacement, that should tell everyone even the few that follow blindly and say yes at every turn, MASON CITY IS SICK OF THE MAYOR.

I don’t think so. Only those that read this site know there is any discussion on this. Mason City seems to be happy with their mayor. I never ever hear anything about the mayor. Good or bad.

read the letter sent Anna, the republian party is sick of him.

Not far off lol
