Forest City, Iowa – This spring, the world’s longest-running play will appear at Waldorf College’s Smith Theatre. Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap” runs Wednesday, April 10, through Saturday, April 13.

“Mousetrap” first opened on London’s West End in 1952 and has been performed without interruption for the last 60 years. Its continuous production has earned it the record for the world’s longest-running show.

Waldorf’s version of the classic whodunit will vary slightly from the original production. “By now, most people know the plot, so I wanted to do something a bit different to make it fresh,” explained Dr. David Sollish, the play’s director and assistant professor of theatre at Waldorf. “Our production is framed in a present-day sanatorium for women with the patients and staff performing the play.”

The play-within-the-play will remain true to Christie’s story about stranded strangers attempting to discover the killer among thembefore another is murdered. As with all productions of “Mousetrap,” audience members will be asked not to reveal the identity of the killer to others.

The show opens at 7:30 p.m. all nights. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and non-Waldorf students, and $2 for Waldorf students. Tickets can be reserved online at http://www.waldorf.edu/residential/fine-arts<http://www.waldorf.edu/residential/fine-arts> or by calling the Waldorf Theatre box office at 641-585-8585.
