MASON CITY – The bar formerly known as Alley Katz continues to try and re-make itself.
NIT was informed Sunday that the bar has a new name. According to co-manager Shylan Bergstrom, the bar will now be known as Club Racks.
A hand-made sign was recently placed behind the bar at the the east entrance.
Bergstrom said Sunday that a new sign is on order for the front of the bar, facing Federal Avenue.
The sign “should be in this week,” she said. We “will also be getting inside professional signs made.”
Berstrom and another co-manager, “Jeff,” have tried lining up bands recently as the bar slowly regains its customer base.
“We will have a live band” later this month, Bergstrom explained. “We’re getting new customers and old ones still love it from before.”
The bar has had no considerable incidents in recent weeks where police attention was needed since the Mason City Council ordered bar owner Kathy Hebel to clean the bar up.
In August, Hebel gave Bergstrom and Jeff the green light to manage the bar and make changes, which they said included working more closely with police and changing up the music selection.
