MASON CITY – The bar formerly known as Alley Katz continues to try and re-make itself.

NIT was informed Sunday that the bar has a new name.  According to co-manager Shylan Bergstrom, the bar will now be known as Club Racks.

A hand-made sign was recently placed behind the bar at the the east entrance.

Bergstrom said Sunday that a new sign is on order for the front of the bar, facing Federal Avenue.

The sign “should be in this week,” she said.  We “will also be getting inside professional signs made.”

Berstrom and another co-manager, “Jeff,” have tried lining up bands recently as the bar slowly regains its customer base.

“We will have a live band” later this month, Bergstrom explained.  “We’re getting new customers and old ones still love it from before.”

The bar has had no considerable incidents in recent weeks where police attention was needed since the Mason City Council ordered bar owner Kathy Hebel to clean the bar up.

In August, Hebel gave Bergstrom and Jeff the green light to manage the bar and make changes, which they said included working more closely with police and changing up the music selection.

This bar changing it’s name is like Michael Jackson painting him self white. Same shit, different way of showing it. It aint happenin. A better name would be Ho’s, or Jiggers 4 N*****s.

Who cares if u dont like tha place dont go there its as simple as that people act like crime doesnt happen ya mason city is 28k people and nothing here but bars and when people drink shit happens go live in a bigger city its worse

Lipstick… meet pig…. cheap dollar store lipstick at that

I wonder why they can’t make up???? Duh

Make it.

Damn North End!

So dollars are drugs now?

I certainly hope they make it. Historically, they all start out good in that location and then the toughs start coming in and the people that have money to spend quit coming in. They can not make it when they try to do it on people who just drink tap beer and don’t have more money to spend. We could really use a nice, decent place where people could go to visit and be social.

Naming the bar after gangster drug terms seems like a good idea

What drug does the term refer to?

It’s a thousand dollars in hundreds
