AMES – Iowa State came out on top in this Saturday slugfest in Ames, as the Iowa offense again this season looks moribund.

The game was played on MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa, in front of a packed house of 61,500. Military helicopters cruised over the top of the huge crowd of tailgating fans on the Iowa State campus and this pristine Saturday morning.

Today’s game was the first 11 a.m. kickoff at Jack Trice Stadium since Oct. 29, 2022 against Oklahoma.

Iowa leads the all-time series 47-25, while holding a 14-13 advantage in the last 27 meetings.

The victory gave Iowa State back-to-back wins over Iowa for the first time since 2011 and 2012.

Iowa State’s win snapped a streak of the road team winning five-straight games in the series. ISU hadn’t beaten Iowa at home since 2011.

The Cyclones outgained the Hawkeyes, 238-214, in total offense. Quarterback Mark Gronowski completed 13 of 24 passes for 83 yards and one interception.

Matt Campbell is now 67-51 at Iowa State and 102-66 overall as a head coach.

The Cyclones are 19-14 in 11 a.m. kickoffs under Campbell. It was ISU’s first win in a home 11 a.m. kickoff since Oct. 31, 2020.

Iowa State has allowed just 471 points in the second half since the start of the 2021 season (55 games). That’s just 8.6 per game.

The Cyclones are 19-6 in their last 25 games.

Since 2023, Iowa State is 21-4 when forcing a turnover and 15-1 when forcing multiple turnovers.

The Cyclones are 42-19 when scoring first under Campbell.

Iowa State has won 10-straight games, going back to 2023, when leading after the first quarter.

The Cyclones are 3-0 for the third-straight season.

After hitting two first quarter field goals to give Iowa State a 6-0 lead, kicker Kyle Konrardy kicked a 54-yard field goal with 1:52 to play to give Iowa State a 16-13 lead. It was his second- straight game-winning kick in the final two minutes against Iowa, both of which came from 54-yards.

Iowa State has won four-straight games at home and is 8-1 in Jack Trice Stadium the last two years.

The Cyclones are 12-for-16 in the red zone this season, with nine of the scores being touchdowns. Three of Iowa State’s red zone “misses” were kneel downs to end the game.

ISU has had 87-straight games with over 50,000 fans at Jack Trice Stadium, a streak that goes back to 2011. This was the 20th sellout of 61,500 since the new configuration.

QB Rocco Becht started his 30th-straight game at quarterback, tied for the longest active streak on the team with Tyler Miller. It is the longest active streak among Big 12 quarterbacks and fourth-longest in the nation among quarterbacks. He tied Bret Meyer (2004-07) for second in school history with his 21st victory as a starting quarterback.

Becht led the Cyclones on a 13-play, 55-yard drive over 6:29 that led to a 54-yard game-winning field goal. It was his seventh career game-winning drive in the fourth quarter. He was 4-of-5 for 39 yards and had two carries for five yards on the game-winning drive. He extended his school record streak of games with a touchdown pass to 21, the longest active streak in FBS. He has thrown a touchdown pass in 29 different games in his career, the sixth-most among active FBS quarterbacks.

Becht passed Sam Richardson (2012-15) for fourth in school history with 560 career pass completions.

Moved ahead of Alex Espinoza (1984-86) for fifth in school history with 913 career pass attempts.
