Computer man Scott Tepner found not guilty of contempt charge

MASON CITY – A contempt of court charge filed against a Mason City man and Cerro Gordo County computer whiz was dismissed by a judge Tuesday.

Scott Alan Tepner, age 45, was held in contempt of court for allegedly violating a court-ordered no-contact order by sending on September 5th, 2013, a Facebook “friend request” to an alleged victim of domestic abuse and stalking of Tepner. Mr. Tepner was already exonerated by a jury in the domestic abuse case.

Tuesday, Judge Patrick Byrne dismissed the contempt of court charge against Tepner, his lawyer Rich Piscopo told NIT. “The contempt charge was for her alleging that Scott sent her a Facebook friend request. The court was not able to tell, based upon what the State provided, whether or not it was genuine. They found Scott not guilty,” Mr. Piscopo said.

Tepner has also had another charge of violating the no contact order dismissed in May.

Tepner still faces a felony stalking charge and faces a jury trial on December 3rd. Mr. Piscopo said that he has had trouble getting alleged evidence from the state in order to properly defend his client in that case. He has filed a motion to compel the state to share the evidence, and a hearing on the matter is set for November 27th.

“My Motion to Compel was filed because I have still not received ‘alleged videos’ that have been in the State’s possession since September and with trial only 2 weeks away, I was forced to seek the Court’s assistance in ordering the State to turn them over. They were due November 7th.”

The messy squabble between Tepner and a former girlfriend has cost Tepner his standing as a paid employee with the Cerro Gordo County MIS Department. He was placed on unpaid leave of absence, and the county Board of Supervisors was presented with a vote of “no confidence” in Tepner by a steering committee looking to oversee the MIS Department.

By the globe the charge was no contact order not contempt. I think there is a difference. Where did you get your info Matt?

If you are accused of violating a no contact order you are charged with contempt.

I hope he is found innocent of the rest of the charges as well. She is a nut ball

I don’t know this man or the woman who brought forth the accusations, but I do know that even if a person is found not guilty, that does not mean they are innocent. So, who really knows the entire story, except for the two people involved in this case.

In following this story, it came out that both parties were involved with each other while married to other people. That alone not only displays their character, but also their lack of honesty. Not impressed with either party.

Very well said and I agree with you.

Some woman are very adept at gaming the system. 30 years ago it was a given that if any woman complained about anything, the man was arrested for something. This went on unabated for decades before we even started to listen to the mans side of things.

When is the State and County going to say enough is enough already? This is the third time with egg on their face. Here’s a thought???? After 3 not guiltys, maybe this chick is, I don’t know, LYING????!!!!!!!!!

What do you know? Innocent again.
