GENOA, Ill. — A Northern Iowa native and former Manly resident who served his country in uniform was honored this week with a funeral service and military rites.
Dennis Craig Cayler, 78, formerly of Manly, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at his home in Genoa, Illinois.
Cayler was born on December 16, 1947. His life included service in the U.S. Army, including during the Vietnam War era, and his final tribute will include military honors conducted by Manly American Legion Post #110.
A funeral service for Cayler was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly, with Pastor Linda Johnson Prestholt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake.
Cayler was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Louise Cayler; his daughter, Amber Cayler; and great-grandchildren P.J., Patrick III and Gouin.
He is survived by his daughters, Corinna and Terri; grandchildren Tierra, Vanessa, Brody, Joey, Vincent, Simon and Eli; and several great-grandchildren.
