STUART, IOWA — An Iowa educator is facing a felony charge following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a juvenile student a decade ago. The Stuart Police Department announced the arrest of Jesse Eugene McCann, of Greenfield, Iowa, who has been charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee, a class D felony.

According to authorities, the charges stem from an investigation into incidents that allegedly occurred approximately 10 years ago. At the time of the alleged conduct, McCann was an employee of the West Central Valley Community School District. The Stuart Police Department spearheaded the investigation that led to the filing of the criminal charges.

McCann (pictured at top) was taken into custody in Adair County at approximately 5:19 p.m. on May 7, 2026, after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Following his apprehension, the Iowa man was transported to the Guthrie County Jail in Guthrie Center, where he is being held.

Officials stated that because this remains an active criminal case, no additional information regarding the specific nature of the allegations is being released at this time. As with all criminal matters, a charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
