RUDD – A Ford F350 driven by a Waterloo resident collided with a train at about 9:05 AM Saturday morning in Rudd.
According to a report, the pickup truck was traveling northbound on 4th Street and failed to yield at a yield sign and collided with a train that was westbound on the railroad tracks. The pickup truck was drug for about a quarter of a mile.
The passenger in the pickup truck, now identified as Brian Allen Leckness, 32, was declared dead at the scene but was flown to Mason City and then to Rochester, MN. A 73 year-old man authorities have only identified as “Eilers” who was driving the pickup truck was injured in the incident as well.
The accident is under investigation at this time. There are no cross arms at the intersection.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, and the Rudd, Nora Springs and Mason City rescue and fire personnel.
