KLEMME – Allen E. Anderson, a lifelong Klemme-area farmer who remained deeply connected to local history, agriculture and community life, is being remembered after his death at age 98.
Anderson passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Concord Care Center in Garner.
Allen Eugene Anderson was born on March 29, 1928, on the family farm north of Klemme, the son of William and Lela Anderson. He attended country school at Ell Township No. 4 and later graduated from Klemme High School in 1945. According to his obituary, he was the last surviving member of that graduating class.
After high school, Anderson continued living and farming on the same family “home place” where he was born. He remained there for decades before moving to Concord Care Center in April 2020.
Anderson’s life reflected a deep appreciation for rural Iowa and its history. He enjoyed reading, genealogy, farm auctions and collecting farming implements. He also kept up with current events and supported local athletics, attending as many Klemme basketball games as he could.
He was active in the Hancock County Historical Society and was a member of Klemme United Methodist Church.
Anderson is survived by his sister, Alice Mae Greimann, along with nieces and nephews in Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and other family members.
Funeral services are set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., Garner, with Rev. Scott Kozisek officiating. Visitation is scheduled for one hour before the service at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.
