DES MOINES, IA — Ahead of President Trump’s visit to Iowa, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar released the following statement:
“As President Trump comes to Iowa, his Administration continues to hand out RFS waivers meant for small refineries to oil and gas giants like ExxonMobil and Chevron. President Trump’s abuse of these waivers, to say nothing of his chaotic and Tweet-driven trade policy, hurts farmers while lining the pockets of Big Oil.
“Year-round E15 could create 1.3 billion gallons of new annual ethanol demand over five years, but the oil waivers have resulted in more than 2.6 billion gallons of RFS blending obligations being erased over just two years. Do the math: year-round E15 is a policy I’ve supported and worked on for a long time, but its benefits are more than erased by the secret oil waivers granted by this administration.”
