Two hit and killed by traffic while pushing vehicle off Iowa road

MARSHALL COUNTY - Two people were killed by oncoming traffic Monday afternoon near Marshalltown when a group of people were trying to push a stalled vehicle off a busy highway.

MARSHALL COUNTY – Two people were killed by oncoming traffic Monday afternoon near Marshalltown when a group of people were trying to push a stalled vehicle off a busy highway.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on Monday, August 21, 2023. At about 3:51 PM that day, a 2023 Lincoln Nautilus ran out of gas on Highway 330 northbound in Marhsall county, near the 11 mile marker. The occupants of the Nautilus and several passersby then tried to push the vehicle off the road when three people in the group were struck by a 2022 Hyundai Elantra driven by 43-year-old Andrew Art Brodahl of Grundy Center.

As a result of the incident, 61-year-old Tony Roberts of Marshalltown and one unidentified person were killed. Brodahl and one other person were injured and taken to hospitals.
