Gail Harringa, Clear Lake woman remembered for love of family and a caring heart

CLEAR LAKE — Gail Marion Harringa, a Clear Lake woman remembered for a life built around family, kindness and care for others, has passed away. Harringa, 89, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 25, 1936.

CLEAR LAKE — Gail Marion Harringa, a Clear Lake woman remembered for a life built around family, kindness and care for others, has passed away.

Harringa, 89, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 25, 1936.

A visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 First Avenue North in Clear Lake.

A funeral service was scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 Second Avenue North in Clear Lake.

Harringa is survived by her husband, Roger Harringa; her children, Heidi Flanagan and John II Colby; grandchildren; stepdaughters; and stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Fannie Ouderkirk, and her sister, Phyllis Smith.

Loved ones are remembering Harringa as a woman whose presence helped hold family close, offering comfort, steadiness and devotion through the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to North Iowa Hospice.
