GARNER — Mark A. Hefter, a Garner man who spent years working as a truck driver and traveling throughout the Midwest, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 11, 2026, at his home at Prairie View Apartments. He was 67.

According to an obituary from Cataldo Funeral Home, Hefter was born on November 3, 1958, in Hartford, Wisconsin, to Eugene and Ann Hefter.

He graduated from Slinger High School in 1976 and later lived in several Midwestern states. Hefter worked as a truck driver until retirement, a career that gave him many years on the road and opportunities to meet people in different places.

Family members remembered Hefter as someone who made friends easily and enjoyed sharing stories and laughter.

He is survived by his siblings, Greg Hefter, Doug Hefter, Kay Kaun, June Ernst and Julie Hamm; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and a great-nephew; and other relatives and friends.

Hefter was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Erik Hefter.

A private family graveside service will be held at Washington County Memorial Park Cemetery.
