MASON CITY — Republican gubernatorial candidate Eddie Andrews is bringing his “People First Tour” to Mason City this week as Iowa’s wide-open 2026 race for governor continues to draw candidates across the state.

The meet-and-greet event was scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Cerro Gordo Republican Headquarters, 1414 Fourth Street SW in Mason City.

The event gave North Iowa residents a chance to meet Andrews, hear from him directly, ask questions and discuss issues facing Iowa families, businesses, farmers, schools and communities.

Organizers said the “People First Tour” is focused on meeting Iowans where they live and hearing concerns directly from local communities.

“This tour is about meeting people where they are, listening to their priorities, and talking about practical solutions for Iowa’s future,” organizers said.

Andrews (pictured at top), via his campaign, a Republican from Johnston, currently serves in the Iowa House of Representatives. He represents House District 43 and has served in the Legislature since 2021. He is also a businessman, tech entrepreneur and pastor.

His stop in Mason City comes as Republicans prepare for a competitive gubernatorial primary following Gov. Kim Reynolds’ decision not to seek another term. The race has drawn several Republican candidates, including Andrews, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra, former state administrative official Adam Steen, former state Rep. Brad Sherman and Zach Lahn.

The winner of the Republican primary is expected to face Democrat Rob Sand, Iowa’s state auditor, in the 2026 general election.

For North Iowa voters, the governor’s race is expected to touch on several issues with local impact, including property taxes, rural economic development, agriculture, school funding, public safety, housing and workforce needs.

Andrews has framed his campaign around common-sense leadership and practical solutions. His campaign says the “People First Tour” is intended to give voters a direct role in shaping the discussion as the race moves closer to the 2026 primary.

The Mason City event was open to the public.
