Harvey Berg, Forest City native and devoted family man, dies at 70

SPIRIT LAKE – Harvey Melven Berg, a Forest City native remembered for his steady presence, caring heart and deep devotion to family, died May 28, 2026, in Spirit Lake. He was 70.

Berg was born August 9, 1955, in Forest City to Melven and Florence Berg. His life centered around the people closest to him, especially his wife, children, granddaughter, siblings, extended family and friends.

Those who knew Berg remember him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He valued family above all else and was known for the love and care he shared with the people around him.

Berg is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Andrew, and Yulia Berg; his daughter, Alyssa Berg, and Lance Boon; and his granddaughter, Emery. He is also survived by brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melven and Florence Berg; his brother, Marvin Berg; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; and a nephew.

His family plans to hold a private memorial service at a later date.
