BURLINGTON — A missing Iowa woman was found dead Wednesday afternoon in a wooded ravine area after police, family members and others searched for her, authorities said.
The Burlington Police Department said officers took a missing-person report at about 7:15 p.m. on May 26, 2026, for Karen Kristine Aller, 69, of Burlington.
Police said Aller had last been seen around noon on May 25, 2026.
A search began shortly after the missing-person report was received. Authorities said the search was temporarily halted after darkness fell, then resumed first thing Wednesday morning.
At about 1:02 p.m. Wednesday, Aller was located deceased in a wooded ravine area off Cascade Terrace, according to police.
The cause and manner of death remain under investigation by the Burlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. An autopsy is expected to be conducted.
Police said foul play is not suspected at this time, and there is no danger to the community.
The Burlington Police Department thanked family members, friends and others who helped with the search, along with the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and the Burlington Fire Department.
No additional information is expected to be released at this time, police said.
