CLEAR LAKE – The Iowa DNR is reminding folks that ice fishing shelters must be removed soon, as Spring-like weather is approaching.
Ice fishing shelters, left unattended, must be removed from all state-owned lands and waters by Feb. 20. Ice shelter owners are encouraged not to wait until the last minute to get their shelter off the ice.
If a shelter falls through the ice, the owner is responsible for getting it out of the lake.
If I want to keep my ice house on the lake until July, the state should let me. Darn overreaching bureaucrats. I bet this law was made during the Democrat’s turn in Des Moines. The current legislature would never have passed a law like this. Heck, they even want 14 years old kids to be able to work in packinghouses.
