CLEAR LAKE – Clear Lake police announced today that retired K-9 Kilo has passed away.
“We are saddened to share that retired Canine (K9) Kilo passed away Friday evening (2/18/22),” Clear Lake police said in a statement. “Kilo was surrounded by his family, which included his former handler Lt. Cory Gute.”
K9 Kilo began his service with the City of Clear Lake in 2012 when he was partnered with then Officer Gute. Kilo retired in 2020 when he reached 11 years old and Cory was promoted to lieutenant.
“We will miss Kilo and will always remember his service to our community,” the statement went on to say. “Thank you to Garner Veterinary Clinic and Brookview Animal Health Center for their continued care and support of Kilo.”
