LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Young Iowa archers delivered several standout performances on the national stage, earning Top 10 finishes at the Eastern National Archery in the Schools Program Bullseye and 3D National Championship held May 7-9 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The results included a national title, multiple individual Top 10 placements and a strong team finish, showing Iowa’s growing strength in school-based archery competition.

One of Iowa’s top performances came in the Eastern Nationals 3D tournament, where Emily Mourlam of Center Point-Urbana High School won first place in the high school girls individual division with a score of 295.

In 3D archery, competitors shoot at three-dimensional animal targets at varying distances, testing accuracy, focus and consistency under tournament conditions. Mourlam’s winning score placed her at the top of a competitive national field and gave Iowa a championship finish at the event.

Iowa also had a strong showing in the Eastern Nationals Bullseye tournament. Tate Kuehn of Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids placed eighth in the high school boys individual division with a score of 295. Kuehn also placed seventh in the Centershot Eastern Nationals Bullseye high school boys individual division with a score of 293, making him one of Iowa’s most consistent high school performers across the national events.

In the elementary school division of Eastern Nationals Bullseye, Joe Henry of Clear Lake Classical placed ninth in boys individual competition with a score of 282.

Iowa elementary archers also found success in the Eastern Nationals 3D tournament. Tristan Pansegrau of River Valley Elementary placed third in the boys individual division with a score of 285. Mason Anfinson of Oelwein Wings Park Elementary placed sixth in the same division with a score of 281.

Oelwein also earned recognition as a team. Oelwein Middle School placed sixth in the Middle School 3D Team competition with a team score of 1,660, giving the school a Top 10 national finish.

In the Centershot Eastern Nationals Bullseye tournament, Jacey Bushlack of Vernon Middle School in Marion placed eighth in the middle school girls individual division with a score of 286. Josie Ricklefs of Anamosa Strawberry Hill placed ninth in the elementary school girls individual division with a score of 271.

In the Centershot Eastern Nationals 3D tournament, Allison Swallow of Ottumwa High School placed 10th in the high school girls individual division with a score of 288.

The Iowa results showed depth across several age groups and competition formats. High school, middle school and elementary archers all earned national recognition, with competitors from Cedar Rapids, Clear Lake, Center Point-Urbana, River Valley, Oelwein, Marion, Anamosa and Ottumwa representing the state.

The National Archery in the Schools Program has grown into a major youth competition platform, combining classroom-based archery education with state, national and championship-level tournaments. The program emphasizes focus, discipline, safety and sportsmanship while giving students a chance to compete individually and as part of school teams.

Qualified Iowa archers are now eligible to compete at the 2026 NASP Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida, set for June 18-20.
