MASON CITY – Bill Schickle will be the next mayor of Mason City.
Schickel defeated Colleen Niedermayor, 4,173 to 2,367. Alex Klein was third with 485 votes.
Tom Thoma won an un-opposed race for at-large city council.
In Ward 2, Will Symonds (690) with face Troy Levenhagen (574) in a run-off race. Lionel Foster was third with 348 votes.
In Ward 4, John Jazsewski (515) will face Matt Marquardt (474) in a run-off race. Jack Leaman was third with 345 votes and Phillip Sanchez was fourth with 241 votes.
The voter turnout was 37.6%, 7,195 persons voted out of 19,126 registered voters.
City Runoff Election Day is December 5.

The real question is where Jack and Phil’s votes will go. My guess is Jack’s go to Jaszeski, but Phil is the wildcard. Blue collar working class…hmmm. Could be a toss up. My prediction is Jaszeski takes it.
Jazswerski was a joke the last time he was on the council. He slept through most of the meetings and had to have someone show him the way to the library. We need a young aggressive person on the council who is not afraid to stand up and ask questions of the establishment. Matt fits that requirement.

Schickel is savvy and knows how to morph into what he needs to be to keep up with the times. Chameleons are successful organisms. I don’t have a problem with it so long as he changes colors smoothly while fundamentally remaining a good person at his core. His wife however has some atoning to do for her shoddy legal representation for the vulnerable and weakest anongst us.

Im still unsure what to think about Bill. He does seem an interested politician as he turned out for the anti Prestage picnic to hear people out. Gary Hugi and Tony Nelson now know the sting of defeat. The KIMT anchor is very easy on the eyes and Nelson Crabb will be around for another 4 years sucking on lozenges. Refreshing that Bennett Smith won. Trump got his ass handed to him but delivered a very good speech against NK. REVENGE and SUCCESS will be mine.
