MASON CITY – A Mason City man is facing 10 felony charges after authorities arrested him on a warrant tied to an Iowa criminal case involving alleged depictions of minors in sex acts.
Johnathon Neal Glawe (pictured at top), 31, was arrested by Mason City police at 10:20 a.m. on May 22, 2026, according to a Mason City Police Department arrest record. The arrest record listed the case as an out-of-jurisdiction warrant.
Court records in Cerro Gordo County show Glawe is charged in case FECR034936 with 10 counts of purchase or possession of a depiction of a minor in a sex act, first offense. Each count is listed as a Class D felony under Iowa law. Under Iowa law, purchase or possession of a depiction of a minor in a sex act, first offense, under Iowa Code section 728.12(3), is a Class D felony. Iowa law says multiple depictions may be prosecuted and punished as separate offenses, including separate depictions of the same minor. A Class D felony in Iowa carries a possible prison term of no more than five years and a fine of at least $1,025 and up to $10,245. Because this case lists 10 Class D felony counts, the potential sentencing exposure could be significant if there were convictions on multiple counts, though the actual sentence would depend on the court, plea or trial outcome, criminal history, and whether sentences run concurrently or consecutively.
The charges were filed May 21, 2026, in Cerro Gordo County District Court. Court records list the alleged offense date for all 10 counts as December 18, 2025.
A judge ordered an arrest warrant on May 21, and the warrant was issued with bond set at $25,000 cash only. Court filings show the warrant was served May 22 after Glawe was arrested by Mason City police.
Glawe made an initial appearance on May 22, and court records indicate he was held for bond. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on June 1, 2026.
No disposition has been entered in the case. Glawe is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
