
MASON CITY — A motorcyclist suffered significant injuries after losing control and crashing along Highway 65 in Mason City.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:32 PM on Monday, August 31, 2026, on northbound U.S. Highway 65 south of 43rd Street SW, within the Mason City limits.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the motorcyclist was traveling north on a 2005 motorcycle when the driver lost control for an unknown reason.
The driver sustained significant injuries and was transported by Mason City Fire Department personnel to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. The driver’s name, age and hometown were withheld from the initial crash report.
The damaged motorcycle was removed from the scene by Lake Towing.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and Mason City Fire Department assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
