NORTHWOOD — Lori Jane Pepper, a Northwood woman remembered for her work with children and her love of family, music, animals and women’s basketball, died Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Pillar of Cedar Valley in Waterloo. She was 67.
Pepper was born June 12, 1959, in Kanawha to Howard and Beverly Drevs. She later graduated from Iowa State University and worked as a speech pathologist, including in school systems in Fort Dodge and St. Paul.
She married Rex Pepper on August 31, 1991. Family members remembered her as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed life on the farm, gardening and caring for animals, especially horses, dogs and cats.
Pepper also enjoyed music and followed women’s basketball, including the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark.
She is survived by her husband, Rex; children, Sam Pepper, Lucas Pepper and Sarah Springer; grandchildren; siblings; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her son, Benjamin, and daughter, Jamie.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Hoff Celebrations – Sites Memorial Chapel in Northwood. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the chapel. Interment will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery in rural Kanawha.
Memorials are preferred to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
