Mary Ann Bollman was born on December 8, 1938, in Lourdes, Iowa. She was the eighth child born to Adolph and Millie (Marik) Hyke. She attended Catholic school in Lourdes.

On October 12, 1963, she married the love of her life, Boyd Bollman at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. To this union five children were born. Together they raised their family in the Cresco and Dorchester areas, and eventually settled on an acreage near Kendallville, Iowa.

Her working career included several years at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco. Later retiring from Donaldsons after 23 years of employment.

Mary enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, creating scrapbooks full of memories and playing cards. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She made the best potato salad, creamy cucumbers and roast beef dinners. And no one could top “Grandma’s mashed potatoes”. She loved scratch tickets and an occasional trip to the casino. But most of all she loved the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons: Richard (Deb Scroggin) Bollman, Ronald (Laura) Bollman and Donald (Genna) Bollman, daughters Laura (Dean) Kuhn and Lisa (Zach) Diersen, twelve grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister Virginia Nehl and sisters in-law Bonnie (LeRoy) Jones and Beverly Bollman; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Boyd (2013) and siblings: Margaret Fogarty, Everista Williams, John Hyke, Thomas Hyke, James Hyke, Raymond Hyke and Betty Jean Hyke.
