Trafficking stolen guns, firing bullets in town and other crimes rewards teen in Fort Dodge with trip to Eldora detention facility

FORT DODGE – A naughty teen was caught by cops in Fort Dodge after bullets were fired in town and police scrambled to investigate the incident.

On Wednesday, June 8 at approximately 8:42 P.M., the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a report of shots fired in the area of 7th Avenue North and North 10th Street. Information provided indicated multiple shots had been fired. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with numerous witnesses who had observed the incident.

Upon initial investigation, it was discovered that at least one individual was shooting at another near the 900 block of 7th Avenue North. Witnesses indicated they observed one male fleeing the area on foot in possession of a handgun. Officers located a male matching the description given in the alleyway near the 700 block of North 10th Street. A firearm was located after officers contacted him, which was determined to have been reported stolen.

As a result of the investigation thus far, a 14‐year‐old juvenile male has been arrested and charged with the following:

– Trafficking Stolen Weapons (C Felony)
– Reckless Use of a Firearm (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
– Use of Dangerous Weapon in Commission of a Crime (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
– Providing False Identification Information (Simple Misdemeanor)
– Interference with Official Acts (Simple Misdemeanor)

The juvenile male was transported to the Central Iowa Juvenile Detention facility in Eldora. The case will be further handled within Juvenile Court. As with all cases, the juvenile is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Fort Dodge Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident.
