Forest City, Iowa – Waldorf College’s Distinguished Visiting Writer Series welcomes Patrick Hicks on Tuesday, February 5. Hicks will speak to creative writing classes at Waldorf College as well as reciting his own work at a public reading.

“Patrick brings a global perspective to our Distinguished Visiting Writers Series,” said Joe Wilkins, Waldorf’s director of creative writing. “He has lived in Northern Ireland and England and traveled widely, and he often writes about these experiences. A plainspoken, insightful poet, he is also a fiction writer and will be working with my Techniques of Fiction students this semester.”

Hicks is the author of five poetry collections and is also the editor of A Harvest of Words, which was funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. His work has appeared in some of the most vital literary journals in America, including Ploughshares, Glimmer Train, The Missouri Review, Tar River Poetry, New Ohio Review, Salon, Utne Reader, Poetry East, Commonweal, VQR, Natural Bridge, and many others.

Hicks’ reading will take place at 6 p.m. in Waldorf College’s Salveson Ballroom on Tuesday, February 5. The public is invited to this free event.
