Northern Iowa teen dies in ATV accident

SAC COUNTY, IOWA – A Northern Iowa teen died in an ATM accident and police are investigating.

The Sac county, Iowa sheriff’s office is investigating an ATV accident that occurred during the early morning hours of Monday May 18, 2020, that has claimed the life of 17-year old Ryan Mykle Stephens of Sac City, Iowa.

Stephens was a passenger on the back of an ATV that was being operated by 21-year old Kele Leon Robinson of Sac City sometime around 2:30 a.m… They were driving on the road leading in to lower Hagge Park south of Sac City. Robinson lost control and struck a tree. Robinson was ejected from the ATV. He landed in the Raccoon River. Stephens was also ejected. Stephens was taken by private car to Loring Hospital. Stephens was transferred to a Sioux City Hospital with life threatening conditions. Stephens died from his injuries on the morning of May 21, 2020.

Two separate search warrants were served in connection with this investigation. The first was on the person of Kele Robinson. This warrant was for a sample of his blood. The sample has been sent to the DCI Crime Lab to determine toxicology. The second warrant was served at 405 Bowery Street in Sac City. This is the residence of Robinson. This warrant was for controlled substances. During this search by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office and Sac City Police, drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana was seized.

The investigations continues by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office.
