MASON CITY – A Mason City apartment fire forced the residents in the building to evacuate.
On May 4, 2020 at 03:49 AM, the Mason City Fire Department responded to a fire located at 811 S. Illinois for a 3rd floor balcony on fire.
The Mason City Fire Department extinguished a fire on the 3rd floor balcony. The fire had carried into the attic area of the building and master streams were set up to extinguish the attic area on fire.
The Mason City Police Department and Mason City Fire Department assisted residents evacuate the building.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
