DES MOINES – The national weather service in Des Moines says that dangerous temps and heat will continue throughout the North Iowa area at least through Thursday.
An excessive heat warning remains in affect through 10 PM Thursday for Floyd and Mitchell Counties, while a heat advisory is in place for Cerro Gordo, Worth, Franklin and counties west of there.
Heat indices hovering around 105 degrees are expected in the afternoon hours. The highest heat indices are expected for Thursday.
The hot and humid weather will lead to an increased risk of heat related stress and illnesses.
If you are looking for relief in Mason City, the aquatic center (public pool) is only open until 4 PM Wednesday. It will be open from 1 to 8 PM Thursday with a one hour break from 5 to 6 PM.
