SCOTT COUNTY, IOWA – An elderly woman driver drove her Ford Fusion over a highway center line and collided with an Iowa Harley-Davidson rider, ending his life.
Police say that on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at approximately 5:13 PM, the Scott Emergency
Communication Center received a call of a motor vehicle accident near the 24100 block of 115th Ave.
This particular roadway is a two-lane highway just south of Donahue, IA. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene, and an investigation was conducted.
The initial investigation found that a maroon 2018 Ford Fusion was traveling south on 115th Ave. At the same time a white 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on 115th Ave near 240th Street. The Ford Fusion was found to have veered across the center line into the northbound lane, colliding with the Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The driver of the Fusion was identified as a 75-year-old female, Margaret Knochenmus of Donahue, Iowa. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as a 60-year-old male; Todd Hughes of Grand Mound, Iowa. The driver of the Fusion was checked by medical personnel on scene and transported to the hospital where she remains in stable condition. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased on scene.
This accident remains under investigation by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team.
