MASON CITY – Charges have been filed in connection with a fatal vehicle crash that occurred on the east side of Mason City on September 27, 2019.
Tomas James Berk, age 24 of Janesville, Wisconsin, was arrested Thursday and charged with Homicide by vehicle; a class B felony.
Lab results indicated that Berk had one or more controlled substances in his system at the time of the wreck.
Berk was driving a 2011 Kia Sorento that crashed into a ditch south of Highway 122 on California Avenue. Two of the passengers in the vehicle were ejected. Madisyn Ensign, age 21, died from her injuries and Dominic Clifford, age 18 was seriously injured.
