Cyclones sign four-star junior college receiver Matt Eaton

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State football program picked up one of the nation’s best junior college receivers with the announcement that four-star recruit Matt Eaton has inked with Iowa State.

Eaton is rated as the 31st-best junior college player overall and the fourth-best wide receiver nationally in the ESPN rankings. He will enroll at Iowa State for the spring semester of 2017.

Chose Iowa State over West Virginia and Auburn … four-star recruit by ESPN … rated No. 31 overall and No. 4 WR in the ESPNJC50 … three-star recruit by Scout and 247Sports … ranked as the 97th-best JC player overall and the ninth-best WR by 247Sports … earned second-team all-MACJC honors in 2016 … tallied 37 receptions for 392 yards and a TD … also had an 18-yard TD rush … posted seven catches for 106 yards and two TDs vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast … coached by David Saunders.

2015 at Temple
Played in two games … caught one pass for 11 yards … honor roll student.
2014 at Temple
Played in four games before receiving a medical redshirt … earned one start.

High School: Originally signed with Temple … four-year letterwinner … … earned all-state and all-conference honors as a senior … team went 10-2 and were district champions in 2013 … named team MVP after recording 44 receptions and 785 yards … also played basketball … coached by Lewis Sims.

Matt Campbell on Eaton: “Matt is one of the top playmakers in the country. He’s big, which will add to the size we already have on the outside at wide receiver. He’s a guy that has great speed, but also with the ability to run elite routes. We are really excited about what Matt brings to the table.”
